Daylight Savings Ends 2025 with Power Compare
Apr 1, 2025

Daylight savings is coming to an end this Sunday! Here are 3 things you can do with that extra hour.

Daylight savings ends this Sunday, 6 April. In the wee hours of the morning, 3:00am will roll back an hour to 2:00am. Luckily, our modern phones and devices will do this for us automatically. But don’t forget to adjust any manual clocks, and especially the one in your car… or leave it until next Daylight Savings in September.

The Earth is on a tilt of about 23 degrees, giving us more sunlight during the summer than in the winter. Daylight savings was created to help us capture the most of the sunlight. It gives us more sunlight in the evenings than in the mornings. But as the earth tilts back, and the temperatures decrease, we won’t have as much sunlight in the evenings, hence the end of Daylight Savings.

So, you get to enjoy an extra hour on Sunday 6 April! While you could use that time for an extra sleep in, we have 3 productive things you could do with that additional time.

3. Prepare Home and Budget for Winter

Winter is coming! There are a few things you can do to prepare your home and budget for the cold months. Our top tip for preparing your bills for winter is to compare your power bill. Before prices go up, lock in a contract with a better price now before you get trapped with those rising bills. It will only take a few minutes and will be so worth it for those precious winter savings.

Make a few easy and quick changes around the home to be sure that you can conserve energy and keep your appliances running efficiently. Clean your heat pump filter so it doesn’t have to work so hard to keep you warm. Make sure your windows and doors close properly. Consider swapping any blinds for floor touching drapes or curtains that can help trap in the heat. If you have the funds, upgrade any old appliances such as old electric heaters or fridge freezer units. Newer, modern appliances will work more efficiently, and prevent your energy bills from going too crazy!
