We share our top 5 tips to smash the last term of school and how to make sure you have the right internet speed.
There isn’t long left until that final bell rings in the summer holidays and Christmas! You have worked hard to get this far, and you deserve to soak in the warm Aotearoa sun and enjoy the silly season. But before you do that, you still have some schoolwork to smash. It can be easy to feel a little demotivated and out of focus.Â
You are so close! We have gathered our 5 best tips to help you focus and ace the rest of the school year. If you have young children, share these tips with them!
1. Get Moving
It’s time to move your body, to help release some energy and get those endorphins flowing. It’s a great way to reduce stress and therefore, will help you feel less restless in the classroom, and help you more effectively tackle your study and schoolwork.Â
2. Control the NoiseÂ
Some people like a bit of background noise when they study, others prefer silence. Either way, a pair of quality headphones that have a noise-cancelling feature can help you shut off noise around you, and allow you to listen to some music while you are studying, especially good for if you are in a busy library or cafe.Â
3. Create a ListÂ
Sometimes, it can feel overwhelming to have several different homework tasks for different school subjects, topics to learn, and assignments to complete. Multitasking isn’t typically effective as you concentrate less on all the things you are trying to do at once. Write yourself a list so you can see what tasks need to be completed, and do one thing at a time. It will feel satisfying to tick the things off the list as you go, and you will be better able to focus on each task and give it your best effort.Â
4. Give Yourself a Break
It’s just as important to give yourself breaks as it is to get stuck into focused work. After about 30-40 minutes of active study or schoolwork, a 10-15 minute break can work wonders for helping you come back refreshed and ready to get back into it. It’s a good idea to move around during your breaks too. Step outside, move around the house or library to give your brain a clear break, and be sure to grab a glass of water. After you have done your homework or studied for the evening, be sure to give yourself time to relax and unwind – whether that is watching your favourite show, spending time with family, or playing a video game.Â
5. Check your Internet Speed

Internet Speed Test
There are different types of fibre speed, and they generally suit different household needs. For example, a speed of 50/100 Mbps is great for a household of 1-2 people who only use the internet for basic video streaming, social media, and online banking. On the other hand, fibre 300 might better suit larger households of four or more, who have multiple devices connected to the internet at the same time. If you wish to switch to a fibre speed that better suits your household needs, so your kids can study without interruption, jump on Broadband Compare to compare different broadband plans and providers. This is an effective way to find a better deal and unlock savings that will make a true difference to your budget.Â
