Spend Father's Day together with these budget-friendly activities!

One of the best ways to show your dad love and appreciation this Father’s Day is by spending time with him. You will both forever cherish the time spent with one another and the memories made. But spending time with Dad doesn’t need to break the bank. Free or budget-friendly activities can be just as wholesome, and even more special than an extravagant outing or gift. Although, if you would like to give him something, we have a Father’s Day gift guide, and a budget-friendly gift guide to help you out.

If you are unsure what to do with Dad this Father’s Day, we have put together 5 sweet yet budget-friendly activities to try.

1. Movie Night

There is often nothing like getting tucked up under a blanket with a sprawl of snacks on the coffee table. Crank up the popcorn maker, prepare your fizzy drinks with the soda maker, or crack open a cold bottled beverage of your choice. Be sure to jump on Broadband Compare to make sure you are on the right plan and internet speed for your needs. 2. Homemade Brunch

Whip up some eggs, bacon, hash browns, or if you are feeling fancy, try your skills at making French toast or eggs benedict. Food, and sharing a meal with loved ones, has been one of the ways to connect with each other since the dawn of time. You could break out the nice plates, cutlery, placemats, and even add a vase with a floral arrangement or candles to further add to the ambience.

3. Hit the Trails

Does your Dad enjoy getting outside? Breathing in fresh air? Put on your hiking shoes and hit one of your local trails. New Zealand is simply spoiled for a diverse array of hiking tracks, from lively forest trails to rugged coastal paths amongst the salty wind and cawing gulls. You’ll enjoy spending the time connecting with one another and nature!

4. Take a Road Trip

If you’d rather hit the road, than hit the trails, a mini road trip with Dad can be a wonderful way to spend time together. Choose to go to his favourite place nearby, or a destination you both haven’t been. Put his playlist on in the car, or listen to songs that you enjoy together and be sure to stop for a yummy lunch somewhere, whether you bring your own picnic, or grab a Kiwi classic pie for the road instead.

5. Go to a Farmer’s Market

A farmer’s market is a super sweet way to spend any Sunday morning, but even sweeter when it’s on Father’s Day. Check your local area to see where farmer’s markets might be held. Grab your tote bags and prepare your senses for all the sights, sounds and smells of the markets. You may even get to sample food from certain stalls. Grab a coffee and just enjoy soaking in all the knickknacks and unique food on display.Â
